Frequently Asked Questions
- Where do you come from?
I was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. - What’s your education?
I initially majored in Hotel Management with a minor in Business at the University of Nevada Las Vegas but after working in the Hotel and Tourism industry at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino for 2 years, I realized it was not my calling. So, I changed my major to Computer Science. After a few semesters spent on tedious programming I decided to travel abroad and found myself back in New Zealand at Otago University in Dunedin focusing on Digital Design. Here I was not only exposed to the wonderful world of web & graphic design but also found an interest in online marketing. I later returned to the States to finish my studies in Computer Science. - How did you get your start as a Web Designer?
Fresh out of college with nothing other than school projects to showcase my awesome skills in Design, I decided to volunteer for select non-profit organizations and design their websites pro bono. I was able to put my design skills to the test for the first time outside of the classroom and designed Websites for the Las Vegas Zoo and the Nevada Wildlife Foundation which, nine years later still have my original designs online! In 2000, I landed my first job as a Graphic Designer and was quickly promoted to Assistant Webmaster. It all started from there and nine years later I found myself as an Art Director for one of the leading companies in automotive online marketing. - What programs do you use?
My bread and butter are: Fireworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver & WordPress. - What’s your motivation?
I work in a field that’s constantly evolving so my motivation is creating work that’s unique and can potentially contribute to the growth of the medium. I’ve geared my entire career around finding collaborative environments with great projects and a coropoate culture and values that are aligned with mine. - Where do you get your inspiration?
